We make“mom pop.”
Warhol/Warhola out now.
Philly-bred, NY-based Famous Letter Writer is the indie pop music project of award-winning writer and lyricist M.I. Devine and multi-instrumentalist Ru Devine.
Full of gritty, witty, combustible pop, their debut, W̶A̶R̶H̶O̶L̶A̶, turned heads in 2020. Produced by NYC underground legend Keith Zarriello (The Shivers), with singles featured in places like NPR ("All in my Head"), W̶A̶R̶H̶O̶L̶A̶ premiered in American Songwriter, where it was dubbed, "from front to back, a success."
With a sound that reflects, like a funhouse mirror, "die Amerikanische Musik Seele, von Tom Petty über Leonard Cohen bis zu Arcade Fire" (Berlin's We Love That Sound), FLW has won admirers around the world for a hyper-literate brand of "righteously original, inside-out art punk" (American Pancake).
"Warhol/Warhola," the lead single, premiered in Talkhouse, along with the first of ten short films, a throwback homage to Warhol's DIY, avant-garde aesthetic.
"Warhol's Mother's Pantry," M.I. Devine's genre-bending-memoir-survey of art and America, turned things inside-out even more--all of it evidence that Famous Letter Writer is offering, in this new decade, "an almost retro-vision of the artistic life, increasingly out of sync with the modern world, and all the more appealing as a result" (For the Rabbits).
